LET'S WORK TOGETHER

The District Administration 2008-09 believes in working together as a team. This has it's own magic. While most of us prefer to work alone, we often overlook the fact that minds are always better than one and four better than two. Most of us fail to meet our own expectations even though we are competent, creative and hard working because we have yet to discover the advantage of working in togetherness or as a team. Leaders succeed because they not only have the ability to dream but they get others to dream along with them.

Togetherness hardly ever fails - It only fails when individuals cannot rise above their narrow interests and their limited focus in life. But as a team, they succeed as they put their energies together and such synergy creates a new magic.

It is easier to win together - Your shortcomings, if any, are actually neutralized in a team. As the team focuses on winning, It is easier to strengthen the hands of the team members to win.

A great learning experience - You learn to see the efforts of others in a positive light as it contributes to your success as well. You also learn from the way others handle problems, how they find solutions and implement them with speed. As they interact and brainstorm all the time, there is more enthusiasm and energy leading to a high level of motivation.

Togetherness pushes you ahead - You often shy away from setting goals and deadlines for yourself. It is mainly because at the back of your mind, you fear failure or procrastinate. In a team, both goal setting and goal achievement can be easily handled. When the team succeeds, everyone enjoys the sweetness of success.

Capabilities overshadow flaws - In a team, one tends to accept others with their faults. You realize that you are not perfect either, and that the others in your team accept you as you are. Each individual has different abilities. Some are good at looking at a larger picture, while some excel at examining minute details. Naturally, more creative solutions are thrown up as the team works together.

Work gets done faster - Speed is another characteristic that exemplifies teamwork. As many work in tandem, they end up doing more work and with greater speed, as they will gallop towards the goal and the deadline.

Togetherness opens your mind - Teamwork also helps us to look at our ideas with a sense of distance as other team members dissect it and go for the most refined option.

Good teams work with the kind of camaraderie that may be rarely visible. The tougher it gets, the closer such team members come as they learn to trust and rely on each other.

Let's then work together and work as if winning is our only goal. You'll be surprised at how easy it is then.

It is a true that as Lions, we serve the needy. My Slogan for the Lions of our District this year is "Let's Work Together". Let us make this our goal, our focus and target excellence in the process. To excel is to be the best. The position of excellence is reserved for dedicated hardworking and committed human beings. Lions cannot afford to be anything but "PRIMUS INTERPARES" (FIRST AMONG EQUALS).

So let's get going by working together to enrich Lionism.
